Sigiriya
Nestling in the central jungle of Sri Lanka, [Sigiriya] is a humongous block of granite that rises abruptly over the flat landscape. This fortified rock was used for shelter in pre-historic and one still see the paintings made on walls from that period. The Sigiriya was made into a monastery rock after the death of King Kashyapa who had built a palace on the summit of the rock. The ruins were later discovered in the year 1907 and since then have attracted many tourists."
