This past Friday, I was fortunate to receive an e-mail to be in the audience of Fuse Network's new hip-hop show, "Lay it Down," hosted by Cee-Lo. The musical guest I chose to watch was N.E.R.D. - one of my top 5 favorite groups. On Monday, June 29, 2010, Chris and I waited from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. to register and walk into the building where we would watch Pharrell, Chad, and Shay "lay it down." The ticket said this would be an intimate show - I didn't realize it was SO intimate that a group of only 70 people would be gathered around a stage, sitting on pillows, screaming and nearly fainting from N.E.R.D. doin' their thang 5 FEET FROM US! Pharrell waved at me and the girl next to me during one of their songs and I wanted to die. During down time, he'd just be chillin', rockin' his head to a beat that would go off. Chad seemed to be in his own galaxy, nodding off during the interview with Cee-Lo, staring off into his space behind thick shades. He glanced at me a few times during their set, though - I think because I was the only Filipina there. During the interview, I, along with 6 others, were in the line of sight of N.E.R.D. Though you won't see us on camera during that part, I was so happy to be so close to them, again! Then, DJ QBert shut it down - the master and forefront of scratching. This was the most amazing live taping I could have ever been lucky enough to attend. (less) (less)
