I joined a union as part of a team at the advice of our manager when the contract I was working on was being taken over by another company four years ago .. it was a good move at the time .. four years later, so much has changed .. I'm no longer part of the same team, we have all moved on in our individual ways and thankfully I've not needed the use of the union since .. paying into something every month which I have no use for seems a waste to me .. it was pretty easy to pop into the local bank and cancel my direct debit, I've received a letter since confirming my cancellation, I don't think they were too happy about it by the tone of the letter but hey its my money and my right .. done!
