The figurines in question were Warhammer figurines (you know, those expensive modelled war games sold at Games Workshop), but we used them to provide miniatures for our Dungeons and Dragons game sessions instead.
My fiance had tried to teach me figurine painting once before, but I'd been so bad at it that I'd quickly become disheartened and wanted to give up too soon. At that time, I'd also been in a vulnerable emotional state due to ongoing distress and low self-esteem regarding my employment situation. This goal was an acknowledgement that I needed to try again when I was in a calmer mood, without feeling like a failure of skill on my part equalled my failure as a person.
About 6 months after I set the goals list, my husband went through a short figurine-painting phase. I capitalised on this, completing my goal by painting several generic zombies to contribute to a zombie army. I also painted one unique warrior figurine (I can't remember exactly what it was). All were a distinct improvement on my first failed attempt, so it was worth it.
I also crossed this one off as part of a "Two Weeks of Fun" event organised by myself and my husband, during which quite a few of my goals were completed. Every day we would host a different event, which we did for 14 solid days. The idea for this one was to host a figurine-painting workshop for our friends to attend.
As it turned out, it was our least popular event of the two weeks by far, and the only one which ended up being cancelled. This didn't stop us from doing it by ourselves, however.
