On June 9th 2021 I went to see "The Last Five Years" or, actually "Os Ultimos Cinco Anos" at the theatre in Carregal do Sal (the cultural centre). It's the first time I've visited a theatre here in Portugal, and the first time I've ever watched a show not in English. I'd read the synopsis before the show, so I knew the general storyline (it's the five years of a relationship between an author and an actress, told from the beginning by him and from the end by her - the only time they meet is in the middle, at the proposal / marriage). The show was beautifully staged and while I obviously couldn't understand the words, I did have a fair idea of what was going on. And of course this was my first theatre experience post-Covid ... wearing a mask was a bit of a pain but didn't distract from my enjoyment at all.
