PROGRESS UPDATE
An update from Anne-Marie.

Old Horns Inn - My partner's dad was having a "good" dementia day, so we seized the opportunity to go out for lunch We drove out to a village outside the city and we saw this pub serving hot food so we pulled in and they were taking walk ins (a lot of places want you to book these days due to covid).

I'm glad we found this pub because the food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Related Notes:

Dokidoki - This is a fairly new restaurant which has opened up in the tiny Chinese quarter of Sheffield. It's actually a Japanese restaurant and the food was delicious. I had grilled eel with rice and salad and a side of miso soup, and the eel just melted in your mouth. From the presentation to the flavour, everything was perfect. And look at the giant giant panda outside of the restaurant!

Oława

My friend took us to a restaurant out of the city. It was an an unusual place as when you first walk in you're met with a bakery and café, (which had some kind of open mic thing going on) and you walk through the back and you get to the restaurant and bar which had such a good atmosphere with a log fire and everything! I forgot to mention this place was a Polish place which you could tell was a central hub for the local Polish community. It was amazing. Listening to the Slavic sounds of the language all around you was like being transported to Poland. The food was comforting and plentiful, and before we left we just had to buy some Polish cheesecake called sernik. I will most certainly be going back again.

Sweet and Simple

We found a little restaurant that only does desserts. Of course we stopped to get something! I had a huge waffle loaded with summer berries and drizzled with chocolate. It was delicious but I had a sugar crash later, oops 😄

The Admiral Rodney

This food was delicious, but their knives were rubbish! I struggled to cut through my roasties and Yorkshire pudding and they're not even hard! The potatoes were roasted in beef dripping and tasted amazing! I was so full afterwards. Next time I go I'll be sure to pick something smaller so I have room for desert ☺️

Na Pedra - a Portuguese restaurant.

I had Espetada Mista de Peixe, which was a mixed fish dish served with herby butter potatoes. The fish tasted so fresh and the pieces were huge! I wasn't expecting it to be served on a hanging skewer so that was a fun surprise.
