1996: Trainspotting
One of those films that was on my list of films-to-watch-but-don't-really-want-to for YEARS but I invested £3 in a Tesco sale and now I understand exactly what I was missing all those years!

2. Hugs
It doesn't matter how bad the day might be, there's little better in life than a hug, and especially if it's from your mum.
1. Cats.
The best thing about walking down your average residential street is the likelihood that I will be able to interrupt the conversation with the person I'm walking with (or the music I'm listening to) and stop to harass a kitty. Scientifically, stroking cats is supposed to be good for you and for the cat, which effectively means I have a license to love every cat I meet.
2016 list:

A: Amazing Spiderman (2012) - 24/2/16
I didn't so much have to suspend my disbelief as sack it on the spot and send it to Coventry. The first hour or so was largely passed with continual yelps of 'bullshit' or 'am I really supposed to believe THAT???'. I mean it got better. Emma Stone failed hard at being a 17 year old, bless her. The end was better than the beginning, although that's not giving it much. I've definitely seen worse, though. Heck, there's worse films on this list already. 2/5

B: Begin Again (2014) - 21/1/16
It had some gawky moments but by the end it made me really happy, so no complaints really. Also, soundtrack was my kinda music, I'm definitely going to listen to it again! A solid 4/5.

C: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - 25/2/16
Huh. I love Natasha Romanoff, so her inclusion in this film boosted my interest significantly. Which was a good thing, really, because I was kind of underwhelmed? Like, I cared and I was interested, but writing this three hours later, I really couldn't care much less. Also, that shield required significant belief-suspension. 3/5

D: Deadpool (2016) - 29/4/16
Aw man, I was so excited for this, like ridiculously, bouncy kind of excited. I was not disappointed. The opening credits made me laugh, lots, and from there it could only have been on to a winner. I left before the end-credit scenes, because Marvel is officially dicks to people when they expect them to wait for like ten minutes to see a teaser that they will have to go home and Google, and I'm really glad I did because when I youtubed it later, I was singularly underwhelmed. But the film...man, yeah. Rollicking good fun, 5/5

E: Echo Park (2014) - 19/5/16
So I watched this whilst revising, and man do I understand why its reviews were so bad on Netflix. I mean this was impressively awful. It was cliché and the characters made such poor life choices, and nobody had any form of character development, and the plot was terrible. Ugh. If I never see this again, it will be far too soon. 0/5. In fact, -1/5

F: First Position (2011) - 4/3/16
Okay, so that wasn't even slightly what I expected it to be - I aimed for fluffy harmless ballet film and got interesting documentary and emotional involvement. Ballet things always amaze me because ballet dancers are amazing, and this did not disappoint. All the stories they showed had so much depth to them, I was really rooting for those kids by the end. 5/5

G: The Gabby Douglas Story (2014) - 4/2/16
This was so inspiring and so interesting. I got so emotionally involved, it was so cool to break down this incredible athlete that I remember watching at the Olympics, and how much drive she had to get there. 5\5 amazing

H: Hope Floats (1998) - 2/3/16
This film promotes so many unhealthy relationships. Justin made me so angry. Like the ending was nice and all, but utterly utterly improbable. The film gains a star and a half for having Sandra Bullock in it, but frankly it was otherwise bilge. 2/5

I: In My Dreams (2014) - 6/2/16
I don't really know why I watched this. I was hungover, in pain and it seemed like an easy watch. Natalie was annoying, Nick even more so, and the whole conflict of the film just seemed so...ugh. Like it was a pleasant enough way to pass a couple of hours of pain, but I definitely wouldn't watch again. 2/5

M: Manhattan Romance (2014) - 20/1/16
This film made me so angry, it felt wrong the whole way through and whilst I get the point of the ending, I'm with his reviewer that suggested the whole thing was pretentious. Seventeen shades of wrong. 0.5/5.

N: Now You See Me 2 (2016) - 9/12/16
Well, I didn't expect it to be as good as the original, which was handy because it wasn't. It improved as time went on, and at the end I actually stopped heckling for long enough to enjoy some of the finale set up. Lula was a good addition, but the line up was still missing Henley, and there was a consequent lack of chemistry going on, despite everyone's best efforts. If there isn't a third, I'll be stunned - mostly because they've been setting up to resurrect Lionel Shrike since about three minutes into the first one. 3/5

S: Suicide Squad (2016) - 15/12/16
I over-hyped this for myself, and it was kind of a let down? The trailers were amazing, and I looked forward to it, but the trailers literally featured all of the good bits of the film, and the rest was largely drudgery setting up wisecracks and the finale. Finished watching with a distinct sense of meh, which even put a dampener on the (really good) soundtrack. A solid 3.5/5

T: Thor (2011) - 27/2/16
Not bad. Not amazing, but not bad. Coulson seemed like a distinct ass, and SHIELD was shady as hell, but all the Asgard/Jotunheim stuff was interesting and provided a decent diversion. 3/5

V:
W: What We Did On Our Holiday (2014) - 6/2/16
This was lovely. With that cast how could this film be anything less than literal perfection? Nice way to pass the time, 5/5

X: X & Y (2014) - 31/1/16
I think my whole life is changed. Honestly this film...wow. The BFI completely outdid themselves with this one. Totally not what I expected - found it on Netflix, thought 'hmm, gonna struggle to find another X' and oh my gosh, I never want to find another X. I could gush for literal days. Is 6/5 an appropriate rating?

I only got to attend one class due to circumstance, but I really enjoyed it regardless. The guy teaching Braille was so interesting, engaging and knowledgeable, it's definitely something I'd learn again.
Braille class from the Languages Festival, Saturday 28/11/15. So interesting, and possibly a good resource for the future.

First half of Learn to Crochet/Knit with StitchSoc. Knitting really not my thing, something I struggled with immensely, but with practice I could probably be passable. Kept overcomplicating things, my brain just did not want to understand it, and I ended up casting on entirely differently to how we were taught! Tuesday 17/11/15
