I consider this goal completed, I just set up itunes on our desktop computer and loaded all my music files on the computer, removed all the christmas music and songs that I didn't care for anymore, imported all that music to itunes and then just created a playlist of most played songs that automatically displays the top 101 songs. It's a work in progress, but as I play more music on the computer it will become quite a fine tuned list!

I still have a separate playlist on my ipad that I curated myself -- it's not narrowed down to 101 songs just yet - but it doesn't have very far left to go! I think right now that list has around 115 of my favorite songs.
