After taking down the existing heat lamps I had a gaping 16" hole. The new exhaust fan is only around 9" square, thus the multiple pieces of drywall. After much mudding, sanding, texturing and painting I now have both extra light and an exhaust fan in my master bath. Woo Hoo!
