This is a bit basic, but I'm still struggling on when to use "c'est" and "il est". No matter how many times I read up on the grammar rules, it just doesn't stick! It's like my brain is only sticky for info for like 5 mins 😖 It'll go in eventually, it's just a bit frustrating!
Not exactly ground breaking but I created an extra profile on Netflix and set the language to French. I thought it would show me all the programs in French but all it does is show me the same English programs with French titles and French dub. I still have to dig for original French content. I think it's probably because my country is still set to UK, but never mind, I still wanted to create a separate profile so I don't mess up the algorithm on the main one. I've found a few French programs I want to watch so hopefully this will help my listening skills. I'm going all in and not even using subtitles. I tried using French subtitles but the sentences are completely different to what's being said!
02/15/21- 7 day streak on DuoLingo
Learning update - no improvement...

For a good chunk of the last year I haven't touched language learning at all. It is what it is, there's no time to dwell, just move forward.

I purchased some iTalki credits to get some lessons from a tutor but I feel super anxious to book a lesson...
So I had two years of high school French nearly 30 years ago....I've started up on Babbel and it comes back better than expected! My challenge is actually using it....I tend to freeze up. Plus no travel to French-speaking locales any time soon.....
I've heard a lot about LingQ, and I signed up to give it a try. I was pretty disappointed at how little they give you for free to get a taste of how it works so I'd abandoned it for months.

I really wish I hadn't!

I don't know what prompted me to give it another shot but since I'd run out of free credits, I had to pay. So I paid for a month and thought I'd cancel it if it didn't work for me.

What actually happened is that I subscribed and now have an amazing resource for reading and listening.

I'm currently reading 80 Days Around the World (with audio). You create your own flash deck by clicking on words you don't know. When you click on a word (or phrase) you can add it to be reviewed with an option to write your own notes.

There's guided courses and books already available to start learning, but you can also import your own books (though I haven't tried this yet). Being able to hit the play button to hear what you're reading is also a massive help for your listening skills. Some of the audio is computerised, but mostly it's read by native speakers.

Recommended!!
Somehow I'd managed to trap a nerve in my neck last night and woke up this morning in agony. Since I stayed home from work, I ended up using some of my day watching La Forêt on Netflix - it's a French mini series about a girl who goes missing in the forest. My listening skills are atrocious so I switched on the French subtitles too. Not only was it good practice, it was a really good show too!
Working hard at this in Duolingo. I'm pretty far through the main lessons already, but there's still tons of leveling up to do. Once I'm through the main lessons, I'll also be looking for some books or online courses.
Sur ma route, Il y a eu du move oui, de l'aventure dans l'movie. Une vie de roots sur ma rout , je n'compte plus les soucis, de quoi devenir fou oui, une vie de roots.
39% fluent in duolingo
Been listening to audio lesson while commuting. Have reached a stage where I can read 40-60% of french. I also read the french Bible alongside English one. Spoken french seems a huge challenge still
Just restarted learning it, on my own. I have been keeping it on hold for 4 years!
A1.1. Aaaand...to be continued
Nunca será completo!
I want to learn French!
Enrolled in Français - Débutant 2 at UFPE. Starts on Aug. 20th, 2012.
I completed French I and French II. I'd say that, for now, that totally counts as "learning French."
Passed French Reading exam!
I'm matriculada in French classes....I'm starting French classes tomorrow!
I have decided to work through Chris' "French is for Dummies" book. I'm not positive of how helpful this will be or how much I will learn but it's a start!
04.10.2011. First french language lesson ^^
Today (8/23/11) was my first day of French class. It seems hard after learning Spanish in high school. Hopefully one day, I'll actually visit France and can speak the language!
