Armenia, a small country in the South Caucasus region, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. One of the must-see attractions is the ancient monastery of Geghard, carved into the cliffs of the Azat River gorge. Another highlight is the stunning Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, surrounded by picturesque mountains and dotted with charming villages. For those interested in history, a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Museum in Yerevan is a must. And of course, no trip to Armenia would be complete without sampling the delicious local cuisine, such as lavash (flatbread) and dolma (stuffed grape leaves).

The Monastery of Tatev is a 9th century Armenian monastery located in the Tatev village in Syunik Province in southern Armenia. The term "Tatev" usually refers to the monastery. The monastery performed an important role in the history of the region, becoming its political, spiritual and cultural center.
Goris is a city in the Syunik Marz of Armenia. Located in the valley of river Goris (Vararak), it is about 240 km away from the Armenian capital Yerevan and 70 km from the Syunik Marz center Kapan. During the 2001 census, the population was 20840. Goris is located in an alpine climate zone, the weather is characterized with mild snowy winters and hot summers. The average temperature in January is –1.3 C and +19 C in July. Annual precipitation level is 700 mm.
Haghpat Monastery, also known as Haghpatavank, is a medieval Armenian monastery complex in Haghpat, Armenia. Described as a "masterpiece of religious architecture and a major center of learning in the Middle Ages", this venerable institution of the Armenian Apostolic Church was placed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1996. The monastery was founded by Saint Nishan (Sourb Nshan) in the 10th century during the reign of King Abas I. The nearby monastery at Sanahin was built around the same time.
of Geghard is a unique architectural construction in the Kotayk province of Armenia, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the main chapel was built in 1215, the monastery complex was founded in the 4th century by Gregory the Illuminator at the site of a sacred spring inside a cave. The monastery had thus been originally named Ayrivank, meaning "the Monastery of the Cave".
Vagharshapat (Armenian: Վաղարշապատ), commonly known as Etchmiadzin (or Ejmiatsin, Echmiatsin or Echmiadzin, Armenian: Էջմիածին), is the fourth-largest city in Armenia and the spiritual centre of the Armenians, as it is the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians, the head of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church. It is the most populous city in Armavir province, located about 18 km west of Yerevan, 25 km east of the regional centre of Armavir, only 10 km north of the Armenia-Turkish border.
Lake Sevan is the largest lake in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world. Lake Sevan is situated in the central part of the Republic of Armenia, inside the Gegharkunik Province, at the altitude of 1,900m above sea level. The total surface area of its basin is about 5,000 km, the lake itself is 940 km, and the volume is 34.0 bln cubic meters. It is fed by 28 rivers and streams.
