Highclere Castle
Highclere Castle /ˈhaɪklɪər/ is a country house in the Jacobethan style, with park designed by Capability Brown. The 1,000 acre (405 hectare) estate is in the English county of Hampshire, about 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the boundary with Berkshire, and 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Newbury. It is the country seat of the Earl of Carnarvon, a branch of the Anglo-Welsh Herbert family. It is the main setting for the British television period drama Downton Abbey.
