"The Forgetting" by Sharon Cameron
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K. Rowling
I'm counting "The Red Garden" by Alice Hoffman.
My niece had recommended "A Dog's Purpose" by W. Bruce Cameron (it made her cry), and I finally got around to it. Really, really, good book, and yes, it made me cry, too.
I did both over the summer - harbor cruise and a ferry to Provincetown!
Kathryn Lasky's Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Rise of a Legend (I'm not counting it though because I counted that book elsewhere in this challenge)

New Thing #2: Train to Providence
I took the MBTA commuter rail from 128 to Providence today to meet up with some friends visiting from NYC. I've never taken the commuter train to Providence before, and I've only ever taken the Amtrak out of 128 so that was all new. On the way home I took the Amtrak train from Providence to 128. I've taken the Amtrak (going through Providence) before but never *from* Providence.
It was a fun trip, and the station was a short walk to where I needed to be. Glad I went!

Had coffee and cannoli at Pastiche in Providence, RI this afternoon with two friends from NYC.
Earlier in the day we had brunch at XOXO.

I had a delicious parfait at XOXO on North Main Street in Providence, RI today. I went there for brunch, but it's a breakfast/brunch/lunch place so it counts.

July 6: I met the Langills (L., S., E., B., Nana)
Aug. 1: I met Mary & Tiffany

T. and I met an old friend for brunch Sunday. We hadn't seen her in over 20 years! We hope to do it again soon.

Act of Kindness #2: On my way home Monday night, I noticed my neighbor struggling with her trash barrels. She's very independent so I asked her she'd like some help. That night she said "yes" so I arranged her barrels at the curb for her and chatted for a bit before continuing on my way.
Unfortunately my PowerBook is too old to repair because the parts are no longer available. The good news is they can transfer my files onto a newer laptop. So there's that.
My oldest sis and I visited our Dad in Boston on Sunday July 20. It was a beautiful day weather-wise, and everyone seemed to have a good time. We walked to the North End for coffee in a cute cafe and then walked back along the waterfront.

New Thing #1: Cape Cod Reuben (in Hyannis)
baked haddock, lettuce, Russian dressing, etc., on rye
Very good!

Act of Kindness #1: As I left the post office today I noticed two women with both their arms full of large boxes (one held two boxes under her arms, and the other held one large box) so I turned around, went back of the steps, and held the door open for them.

Place #1: Hyannis, MA on Saturday (6/28/14)
I love being near the ocean! We were supposed to go to PTown but decided to have a little adventure instead. We stopped at three scenic route stops along the Cape Cod Canal and drove over the Sagamore bridge instead of the Bourne. The meter site thing wasn't working at the parking lot we chose so the sign there said "do not pay." (free parking! yay!) We had lunch at a so-so place, walked along Main Street, purchased a cute, colorful hat and a bracelet for Bean at Bella's of Cape Cod (which is now one of Bean's favorite places). We walked along the waterfront, bought a print and then an anklet (both for Bean) at "artist shanties," and then went on a duck tour followed by ice cream at Ben & Jerry's. We drove up 6A and went over the Sagamore again. Fun day!

Pre-haircut
I finally got a hair cut Sunday! (6/29/14) Now I just have to do the donation.
