Spent a half hour helping an elderly lady find her car in the parking lot.
Seems silly to me but I returned a cart from an elderly lady in the bitter cold who walked with a cane. She was SOOOOOO thankful and called me an angel. It was such an easy, small gesture but it made her evening and saved her a lot of trouble. Dec 3, 2019
Gave away a ticket to Crayola Experience to a little girl at MOA - November 30, 2019
Took Clara Mae to dinner after meeting her on the train. Random. Nov. 2 2019

1/ I spent my day today cleaning kitchen cupboards, hanging curtains and helping to bring some sort of organised order to a flat my friend has been modernizing for the longest time before she can move in and has caused her a great deal of stress along the way .. it is not the way I intended to spend my Sunday and I didn't really think I would be needed as she has a good support network around her .. but it was a genuine spur of the moment act of kindness and I'm happy to have been a part of the process in giving a helping hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2/ I always offer to pick things up for my work colleagues when I am going to the local shops. Sometimes I even pay for their drink or chocolate bar and I regularly buy cookies to share around the office .. I realised this the other day when I had a small list of colleague's wants and commented on my way out the door 'that's my random act of kindness completed for the day'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3/ I was really looking forward to having a long weekend using up my annual leave this month before the tax year ends .. it was with excited contemplation I said goodbye to colleagues as I headed out the door come 5pm at the end of the working week .. I settled into my weekend planning my 4 days ahead until Saturday evening I find a missed call and a message from my manager 'I need to talk with you' .. she'd been off the past couple of days moving home but it was late so I messaged back that I would call in the morning .. Sunday morning I made the call with trepidation not knowing what to expect .. 'I need to take a couple more days off and need your support to support the team leader, say no if you want I will have to think of something else' .. so okay it was agreed I would go in Monday and take Thursday and Friday off instead .. only come Wednesday, my manager needed more time .. in the end it turned out to be two weeks before I finally got to take the much needed time off .. I could of said no but I like to try and support the service and my colleagues.
4/ Lately my local bus service has been going on strike on random days of the week .. for me it means a 40 minute walk to the local town and is something I usually do on a nice day when I don't have a care in the world, it's not something I really want to do on my way to work but needs must .. anyways one morning whilst walking still half asleep I went by a couple of people who were waiting at the bus stop .. I carried on walking with an after thought of .. 'I really should of told those people, I don't think the bus is running today' .. I went onto think but I really don't like approaching and bothering random people but then I remembered my random act of kindness goal and thought damn I really should of said something .. so the next time I got the chance, I did and smiled as I walked, it feels good practising random acts of kindness.
At the Il Divo concert there was a poor man outside as we all filed out onto the streets, begging. I decided to go and talk to him and give him a bit of money towards getting a hot drink / something to eat. I found out his name was Edward and that he had been homeless for 15 years! I think I was the only person who actually took time to stop and talk to him. Most either ignored him, or just put a few coins in his hat. Wish I could have done more!
Pay it forward challenge completed (though I only got 3 people interested in the first place!) I have sent one friend a Baby Name book, to help her decide on a name for baby 3! My crafter-friend got an Amazon voucher, as i had no idea what she might need! My friend I worked at the pub with got a Boots voucher, as she's v v pretty and I thought she could treat herself :-)
7/15/2014- We did not have any Morocco country cards at the table. A guest came up and asked for them. When I went to go get them, I grabbed two of the country cards in case I ran into the people again. Later that day when I was walking to China, I ran into them and gave them the cards. They were so surprised and excited.
7/1/2014- I am not sure if this counts, but I saved the life of a fellow cast member named Asmae. She was really sick and I got her the help she needed.
2) Today we visited our local Dogs Trust and donated a load of old towels and sheets, instead of just sending them for recycling! It did take a bit of persuading mum to part with them, but feels great knowing that they are helping some animals, instead of spilling out our linen / towel cupboard!
I'm doing a 'pay it forward' challenge. Sending 5 people from my facebook or blog a gift before the end of 2014! They have to join the fun and do the same for 5 people too! I have 3 people so far :-)
I've realized it's not possible to keep track of these things. Not because I'm an exceptionally good person, but because random acts of kindness are rarely planned, and often forgotten immediately after. Instead of counting I'll just keep in mind that I want to be kind, and I am sure when my 1001 days are over the challenge will also have been completed - like magic! ;-)
Gave a stranger my Science Center ticket
1) Add money to someone's parking meter
14/4/13: Donated $100 to Tash's dancing trip fund without her knowing how gave it to her. At the HBMS dinner I tucked it under her napkin while she was away from the table. Rhoda and the woman seated on the other side of Tash, both saw me do it but kept my secret.
A little girl left her doll in the shopping cart at the store. Ran after her mom to give it back.
2. I gave a man one dollar so he could afford a sweater
