I spent the day, Tuesday 5/24/2016, at Chaco Canyon on a trip with 18 or so other "seniors" from the Barelas Senior Center. This is the largest great kiva at the site. Have been hoping to make it here for decades.
This is from the highest point of the Pueblo Bonita site at the Chaco Cultural National Historical Park, aka Chaco Canyon. You can see several of the smaller kivas in the background.
Chaco Culture National Historical Park
Chaco Culture National Historical Park is a United States national historical park hosting the densest and most exceptional concentration of pueblos in the American Southwest. The park is located in northwestern New Mexico, between Albuquerque and Farmington, in a remote canyon cut by the Chaco Wash. Containing the most sweeping collection of ancient ruins north of Mexico, the park preserves the United States' most important precolumbian cultural and historic area.
