Made a weekend out of it. Went up to Qassim on Thursday night (Sept 18); saw things in the region on Friday; Saturday morning we were up and on the tour bus by 5am to go the the Buraidah Date Festival so we could see the date auction. It was a great experience and something to see!

Saudi Arabia has the highest number of palm trees in the world with more than 23 million trees accounting for 20 percent of the world production. More than 200,000 tons of dates valued at SR2.5 billion will be made available during the 75-day festival for customers from the Kingdom and neighboring countries to buy.
