Kandahar
Kandahar, occasionally Candahar, or Qandahar, is the second largest city in Afghanistan, with a population of about 512,200 as of 2011. It is the capital of Kandahar Province, located in the south of the country at about 1,005 m (3,297 feet) above sea level. The Arghandab River runs along the west of the city. Kandahar is the original and most culturally significant city of the Pashtuns and has always been their traditional seat of power.
