Kayaked 13km down the Mondego! Fabulous day. We left from the other side of Tabua at about 10ish, stopped off at the little submerged chapel south of Parades for lunch and ended at Retiro do Rio (having kayaked past a friend’s house) just about 1pm. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning - so peaceful on the river, not too hot (for once I was thankful for the clouds) and I saw some sort of coot/moorhen type bird with six young, black kites, buzzards and a heron. No crocodiles though, thank goodness!

I’ve visited the chapel before, from the path behind, and it was interesting to see it from the front and I kayaked right inside it (eventually - after misjudging the entry angle and bashing the boat against the wall a few times!!).

Really enjoyed myself and can tick thing #78 off my list now! (https://dayzeroproject.com/user/alisonuk/list/164198)

I can highly recommend RockandRiver for kayak hire, and will hopefully do another expedition some time!

For now though I’m retiring to my bed for a while with a COVID vaccination arm and aching shoulders 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been kayaking a few times - notably on the Zambezi in an inflatable canoe that was attacked by a crocodile - and have really enjoyed it (even seeing my life flash before my eyes!). Anyway, I would love to do it again, maybe even take it up as a regular hobby, and am booked to go on a kayaking trip down the Mondego.
2/17: Kam and I went on a guided Kayak tour in La Jolla. We saw a Hawksbill Turtle poke it's head above the water and we saw a bunch of dolphins that came very close to us! The water was rough and a wave actually tipped over our kayak as we were trying to paddle out but over all it was an amazing experience and we loved being touristy in our own town!
Happy 51st Birthday! Floated/Kayaked on the Illinois river in OK

Xavier, my 4-year-old, loves to go kayaking.
If my 4-year old can go kayaking, you can too!
Had an awesome time.. absolutely beautiful day... even with his kayak sinking and my butt land in the river... Great Day!!!
Went kayaking for the first time at Oleta State Park in North Miami Beach. Learned that the back of the kayak is the one where the experienced person should be. Ran kayak into mangroves numerous times. Got frustrated. Paddled like hell. Learned that's the wrong way to operate on a kayak. Chilled out. Headed back after an hour due to impending rainstorm (that's Florida after all). [With Mark Henninger]
With Sam in La Jolla 7/17/14
Amazing! Four hours on the lake and I never once tipped. I felt like a fish in water.
