My 4 year old nephew worries about making minor mistakes, like going outside the lines when colouring, I tell him that it is ok to make mistakes, that everybody makes mistakes and they give us opportunities to learn and we shouldn't be discouraged because we can improve with practice. I wish I had realised that at that age instead of getting upset and avoiding things I felt I wasn't good at.

He was also scared of woodlice like I was at that age so I explained to him that they are harmless and we need them to tidy up by eating dead wood and other stuff so there is space to play, I tell him everything has a place in nature.

And he was scared of spiders so I told him they help us by eating insects that could spread disease and I bought him a cuddly toy spider to show him they are not scary and that helped him overcome the fear, although now he wants one as a pet!
